SWEDISH MASSAGE
Swedish massage is also known as relaxation massage, or in some areas of the world as "oil massage." It improves the flow of blood and lymph and causes the muscles to relax, thus releasing trauma.
Our services are particularly helpful in conjunction with Chiropractic care, relaxing the body while readying it for the benefits of improved posture and flexability. Ask your Chiropractor how Massage can help you!
Trauma occurs from the first moment of birth when the doctor welcomes you into a cold, bright and blinding world by slapping you on the behind. Further trauma occurs as you grow older: adults abusing you physically and emotionally, other kids teasing and bullying you, fear that the teacher will call on you, scrapes, bumps, sports injuries, and drug use (be it legal or illegal). All of these events permanently etch their way into your soft tissue, residing there for years or decades, disrupting the natural flow of energy until one day you experience discomfort.
Swedish massage gently allows you to release and relax and helps you to breathe deeply and to let go of emotional, mental, physical, and chemical trauma that has accumulated over time.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Maximum effort in your sport almost always means bodily abuse. The pain you experience is from soft-tissue trauma to affected muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Permanent microdamage occurs each time you play in pain and will eventually decrease your range of motion and shorten your athletic career.
Sports massage is a specific type of massage that enables you to achieve full range of motion, achieve complete power, extend your athletic life span, and help you to reach, or surpass your personal goal.
This therapy works by releasing triggerpoints, areas where the soft tissue is bound up or "knotted." Specific attention is given to the joints where soft tissue crossing over the joint may restrict or aberrate the proper full range of motion of that joint. It can also access certain ligaments and help to strengthen them, especially if they have been weakened by sprains in the past.
REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology, or foot massage, increases circulation and assists the body in stimulating the organs and nerve endings. Energy points on the soles of the feet correspond to all parts of the body and manipulation of those points results in total body relaxation, and often relief of pain and discomfort from illness or injury.
Reflexology is done in the Thai tradition, beginning with a foot bath and stimulation of pressure points along the spine. The client then rests on a massage table as all aspects of the feet are stimulated through quick-paced, rhythmical deep-tissue manipulations, stretches and rotations.
